Why the columns disagree.

Nothing on this page is subtle. It is arithmetic, and the reason it matters is that almost every other statement you will read has quietly picked one column and thrown the rest away.

The measurement

01

One canonical figure, derived outwards

Every value is held once, in USD micro-units, and each column is one division away from it:

amount = usd × 10^decimals × 1e12
         ÷ (1e6 × usdPerUnit)

Nothing is ever converted through an intermediate ruler. Dollars to SOL to gold floors twice and the two floors compound; a page of columns read in different orders then disagrees with itself about the same position.

02

Both ends carry their own price

A profit and loss uses the quote that was live when the position opened for the then side, and the quote that is live now for the now side.

Measuring both ends with today's price shows the token's move and hides the denominator's. That is not a rounding choice; it is the specific sleight of hand this site exists to refuse.

03

An unreadable ruler is absent

A denominator that cannot be quoted right now shows as absent, with the reason. Not zero, and not the price it had an hour ago.

A stale cubit is a wrong cubit, and it is wrong in the direction that makes the page look like it is working — which is why it is the failure mode worth naming.

04

One instant, not six

All 6 rulers are read in a single request. Six requests are six moments, and a table that mixes moments produces figures nobody can reproduce — including the person who produced them.

What this does not do

No headline figure

There is no single number at the top. Choosing one would be choosing a denominator on your behalf, quietly — the thing this exists to stop.

No claim that one ruler is right

USD is the canonical unit because it is the one every quote source already reports in — not because it stands still. It does not. It is one column here, never the headline.

No custody

Cubit never asks for a private key and never asks you to sign anything. Connecting a wallet reveals a public address and nothing else.

Fees

open nothing
close nothing
read nothing

quotes are refetched at most every 12s
and when that refetch fails, the failure is what
you get served — shown as absent, with the reason — never as its last price

There is nothing to charge for. Cubit reads prices and does arithmetic; it does not custody anything, does not route an order, and never builds a transaction. A fee printed on a page that cannot charge one would be an invented number, which is the one thing this whole site is an argument against.
